Furious 7 Breaks Box Office Records

Universal Pictures’ efforts to continue their most commercially-successful franchise of all time after the tragic death of franchise star, Paul Walker, has paid off. Furious 7 is now on track to become the most successful franchise of the series to date, with the movie which premiered on Friday, taking $143.6million in the U.S box office during its opening weekend.

The James Wan-directed film has impressively taken the ninth position in the top 10 biggest opening weekends for movies in the U.S of all time. Furious 7 is also the only film in these rankings which is not based on a young-adult novel such as Harry Potter, Hunger Games and Twilight or a comic book, including The Dark Knight Rises and Spider Man.
